Jessica Leabu
Orlando Family Law Attorney
Jessica Leabu is an Associate Attorney at the Roberts Family Law Firm. She graduated cum laude from the Florida State University, with her bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Sciences, along with minors in Psychology and Education; and she graduated cum laude from Stetson University College of Law.
While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Jessica endeavored to find a career in which she could give back to her community—especially one in which she could help children and young adults. Jessica was a photographer for youth and family events, a preschool teacher, camp counselor, and Au Pair in Northern Italy.
Jessica was the Youth Programs Coordinator for the Florida Coalition for Children, a non-profit agency which advocates on behalf of the child welfare agencies across the state. There, she coordinated legislative events and statewide conferences for teenagers and young adults in the foster care community. Through this role, she empowered bright young minds to advocate for necessary changes within the child welfare system. She also identified and trained the participants of the first-ever Senate Caucus on Child Welfare in Washington, D.C., with the Guardian ad Litem Foundation; and successfully advocated for the passage of legislation designed to provide easier access to housing for children aging out of the foster care system.
Working alongside legal professionals to carry out the best interests of children and families across the state and the country inspired Jessica Leabu to pursue her legal career. During her senior year of college, Jessica interned at a family law firm in Tallahassee, where she developed a unique co-parenting manual which provided resources and advice to the firm’s clients with minor children. This thesis project was a product of Jessica’s unique experience and understanding of how children and families function while they are involved in a court action, through her undergraduate studies and work outside of the classroom. Before starting at Stetson University College of Law, Jessica interned at the Roberts Family Law Firm; she then returned after her first year of law school.
During law school, Jessica was a member of the Stetson Law Review, Honors Program, and ABA Negotiation Team; as well as a Federal Judicial Extern in the Middle District of Florida, working for a federal judge for six months. She spent two years as a Guardian ad Litem, advocating for the best interests of children in foster care, having reunified siblings and parents, and ensuring that minor children with developmental delays received the proper therapies and resources. Jessica was also an executive member of the Child Advocates of Stetson Law and the Anti-Trafficking Coalition, among other organizations. Jessica has won multiple awards for her volunteer work and dedication to serving children and families.
In her last semester of law school, Jessica Leabu was a legal intern at a family law clinic, in which she represented survivors of domestic violence in dissolution of marriage, modification, and paternity actions. She then tried her hand at civil litigation, as an associate at one of the largest law firms in the state, working alongside expert trial attorneys in car accident cases. She always kept in touch with the Roberts Family Law Firm family, and soon realized she needed to return to where she belongs: fighting for clients in the family law arena. Jessica is here to advocate for your best interest in and out of the courtroom, so that your voice is heard, and you obtain the best possible outcome for your family.
